Job summary

Harris County Department of Education HS-CHANNELVIEW in Channelview, TX is seeking a Head Start Teacher (3-5 years) to provide early learning activities and ensure compliance with standards. Immediate start date.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field with 18 ECE credits, or an Associate with 18 ECE credits, or an Infant/Toddler CDA, or CDA program enrollment with milestones. Bilingual a plus; 2+ years of relevant classroom experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 18 credit hours in Early Childhood Education (PG E-5)
• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 18 credit hours (PG E-4)
• Infant Toddler CDA credential (PG E-3)
• Enrolled in Infant Toddler CDA program with coursework completed within 12 months and CDA within 24 months (PG E-2)

Responsibilities

• Model and promote program mission, goals, philosophy, and child growth practices
• Screen assigned children within the first 45 days of enrollment
• Create an engaging, positive, interactive instructional environment
• Develop and implement lesson plans and individualized goals
• Conduct ongoing assessments to support instruction and share progress with parents
• Maintain health, welfare, and safety of children
• Conduct semi-annual home visits and parent-teacher conferences
• Collaborate with parents, colleagues, and community partners to support school readiness goals
• Maintain confidential child files
• Perform other duties as assigned
