This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. It is responsible for the direction and overall supervision of infants (6 weeks to 3 years). Performs activities that ensure the health, safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group. Works with team teachers to plan, discuss, and implement daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum, incorporating the Maryland State Department of Education Early Learning Standards.

Extensive knowledge and skills in early childhood development, supervision, regulations related to child abuse, neglect, licensing, local resources, languages, and customs. Strong communication skills, bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, mathematical abilities, problem-solving, confidentiality, professionalism, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and online training courses.
Includes attending training, meeting children’s physical and emotional needs, developing individual plans, maintaining confidentiality, creating safe and developmentally appropriate environments, planning lessons, supporting social and emotional development, participating in meetings, maintaining records, engaging families, and participating in transition activities, among others.
