Job summary

Porter-Leath Floater position: prep and serve home-style meals for Early Head Start children, assist with kitchen operations, and relieve teachers during breaks. The role also serves as a classroom substitute and helps maintain safety and cleanliness.

You will work under the Site Manager and coordinate with staff to support families. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and relevant child-care experience; CPR/First Aid is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • CDA (Infant Toddler Endorsement) preferred.
  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
  • Two years of relevant work with infants/toddlers (0-3) preferred.
  • CPR & First Aid certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Health Department standards regarding food preparation, food storage, and cleanliness.
  • Ability to provide a continuum of care to pregnant women and children ages birth to 3½ years.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Confidentiality/objectivity in sensitive issues.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Team player and able to assist all employees.

Responsibilities

  • Prep and serve meals according to menu and USDA guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory of food, supplies and equipment.
  • Relieve teachers during breaks and serve as classroom substitute as needed.
  • Keep kitchen clean and comply with health standards.
  • Report kitchen information and maintain records of attendance, meal counts, etc.
  • Collaborate with staff to create a positive, enriching, and safe environment.
