Job description

John J. Duggan Academy

Grades 6-12 | Full-Time | 2026-2027 School Year

Early College Coordinator

John J. Duggan Academy, a Grade 6-12 school within the Innovation Schools of Springfield Public Schools (ISSPS), seeks a highly organized, student-centered Early College Coordinator to lead and coordinate the school's Early College program.

The Coordinator will connect students and families, school counselors and staff, college partners, and adjunct faculty to ensure Early College opportunities align with students' academic plans and career interests. The role will build a Grades 6-12 pipeline, beginning with middle school awareness and exposure and progressing to advising, enrollment, college coursework, and credit attainment. Particular emphasis will be placed on Duggan's pathways in Education, Criminal Justice, and Health.

Core Responsibilities
  • Grades 6-12 Pathway Awareness, Recruitment & Enrollment
  • Partner with the middle school Dean of Culture and school staff to create Grades 6-8 exposure to college, careers, and Early College.
  • Develop age-appropriate experiences connected to Education, Criminal Justice, and Health, including college visits, career speakers, and pathway activities.
  • Beginning in Grade 9, provide increasingly individualized Early College advising, recruitment, applications, course selection, and enrollment support.
  • Promote equitable access and actively recruit students who may not otherwise see themselves as college students.
  • Provide transportation to and from college campuses.
  • College Partnerships, Courses & Scheduling
  • Serve as Duggan's primary school-based liaison with local college and university partners.
  • Align Early College offerings with Duggan's master schedule, graduation requirements, and career pathways; coordinate schedules, calendars, locations, enrollment projections, and rosters.
  • Coordinate with college partners and adjunct faculty and ensure they understand school schedules, calendars, procedures, and student supports.
  • Ensure students, teachers, and adjunct faculty receive timely access to syllabi, textbooks, instructional materials, technology, and other course resources.
  • Student & Family Advising and Support
  • Provide ongoing Early College advising and support to students in Grades 9-12.
  • Organize student and parent Early College information nights, enrollment sessions, and other family engagement opportunities.
  • Prepare students and families for college-level expectations, pathways, opportunities, and responsibilities.
  • Support students taking courses at Duggan and on college campuses; monitor progress and coordinate interventions when challenges arise.
  • Coordinate college campus visits, orientations, and other experiences that strengthen students' connection to postsecondary education.
  • Academic Alignment & High School Credit
  • Work closely with Duggan school counselors to maintain an accurate crosswalk between college courses, high school courses, graduation requirements, pathway requirements, and credits.
  • Ensure Early College course selections support each student's graduation plan and postsecondary goals.
  • Collaborate on appropriate placement and sequencing and verify that completed college courses and earned credits are accurately reflected in student records and transcripts.
  • Program Operations, Data & Accountability
  • Coordinate applications, registrations, rosters, course enrollment, and required documentation; complete adds, drops, and withdrawals within college deadlines.
  • Maintain and reconcile accurate enrollment, course, grade, and credit information across PowerSchool, college systems, district records, and required reporting systems.
  • Coordinate college grades, transcripts, and earned credits and complete required school, district, college, and state Early College reporting.
  • Track participation, enrollment, course completion, credits earned, and other outcomes; use data to identify barriers and improve student success.
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working with high school and/or college-age students.
  • Strong organizational, communication, project-management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple partners, schedules, deadlines, and student records.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, school staff, college faculty, and higher education partners.
  • Ability to manage student-level data accurately, maintain confidentiality, and travel to local college campuses and partner organizations as required.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in school counseling, education, higher education, or related field; Massachusetts educator licensure appropriate to the position.
  • Experience with Early College, dual enrollment, college access/advising, or higher education partnerships.
  • Experience with college registration, transcripts, scheduling, PowerSchool and/or college student information systems.
  • Experience coordinating courses taught by college adjunct faculty and knowledge of Massachusetts Early College programming.
IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is both a relationship builder and a strong program operator. This individual can inspire a middle school student to imagine a future career, help a high school student select the right college course, collaborate with a counselor to ensure it meets graduation requirements, resolve registration issues with a college partner, and ensure grades and credits are accurately recorded. The successful candidate will be highly organized, proactive, collaborative, and committed to building a strong Grades 6-12 Early College pipeline at John J. Duggan Academy.
