Job summary

Cadence Education in Columbia, SC is hiring a Teacher Assistant to support daily classroom activities under the direction of the School Director and Lead Teacher. You will help maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment, assist with developmentally appropriate curriculum, and support children with diverse needs, including those with IEPs.

The role emphasizes safety, collaboration with staff, and ongoing training, with benefits and a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Must meet minimum experience and education requirements for the state of employment.
• Prior early childhood or classroom experience is preferred.
• Must meet state licensing qualifications for a Teacher Assistant.

Responsibilities

• Support a positive and respectful classroom environment.
• Greet children and families daily and help build professional relationships.
• Assist in recognizing and responding to individual developmental, behavioral, cultural, and learning needs (IEPs, behavioral support plans).
• Support planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and Cadence Signature Programs.
• Communicate professionally with families and leadership using Cadence-approved tools.
• Follow the Cadence Education Safety and Supervision Manual and report incidents.
• Assist with managing and reporting escalated child behaviors.
• Adhere to all Cadence policies and procedures in the Employee Handbook.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development, possibly outside regular hours.
