Job summary

MINNESOTA VALLEY ACTION COUNCIL (MVAC) seeks a dedicated early childhood educator to manage Head Start classroom operations. You will plan lessons, implement development activities, assess progress, maintain a safe learning environment, supervise volunteers, and partner with families to support school readiness.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's or higher in Early Childhood Education and demonstrate strong communication, organization, and computer skills. Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a safe, developmentally appropriate classroom learning environment.
  • Follow the Head Start curriculum and assessment processes.
  • Engage families and build partnerships to support child and family goals.
  • Complete documentation and data entry per program requirements and timelines.
  • Adhere to MVAC policies and regulatory standards.

Must abide by Head Start Performance Standards to support the child's development and school readiness. Work as a team member to support child and family needs and to develop child educational and family goals. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with families, partners, co-workers, and supervisors.ESSENTIAL FUNCITIONS OF THE JOB:Responsible for the classroom learning environment. Responsible for following the program curriculum and assessment.Responsible for Parent Engagement and Community Partnership building.Responsible for completing paperwork and data entry accurately and in a timely manner according to program requirements and the forms routing checklist.Responsible for abiding by MVAC Policies, Head Start Performance Standards, and MN DHS Childcare Center Statutes and Rules.REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have a baccalaureate or advanced degree in early childhood education or a baccalaureate or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education, with experience teaching preschool -aged children. This position requires strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
