Responsibilities include:
- Providing supervision to children indoors and outdoors at all times.
- Following health and safety standards in line with DHS licensing and Caring for our Children National Health and Safety standards.
- Meeting the basic needs of children respecting their developmental and cultural backgrounds.
- Promoting healthy eating and mealtime practices according to CACFP guidelines.
- Creating and implementing weekly lesson plans and activities to foster learning and development, using the endorsed curriculum.
- Assessing children's developmental levels both formally and informally, maintaining confidentiality.
- Engaging families through newsletters, conferences, events, and ongoing communication.
- Participating in professional development activities totaling 20 hours annually, including trainings through EcQuip, Early Head Start, DHS, and others.
Minimum qualifications include:
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent, or an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field.
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within three months of hire.
- Mandatory Child and Adult Abuse Reporter training within 30 days of employment.
- Must be 18 or older and meet all HHS hiring requirements.
- Preferred prior experience in an early childhood center.
- Knowledge of child development and early childhood education.
- Ability to work with children and families facing special circumstances.
- Physical ability to move quickly and get up and down from the floor.
- Proficiency with computers and Google Platform.
