Job summary

Newark Board of Education is seeking a Social Worker within the Office of Early Childhood to support teachers and families, observe classrooms, and help plan interventions. The role requires Security NJ certification eligibility and an MSW. Strong communication in English is essential, with LCSW preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.
• New Jersey Standard School Social Worker certificate or eligibility for Emergency certificate.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Confer with and support teachers in planning strategies and modifications.
• Conduct regular visits to classrooms to observe and model strategies.
• Observe, provide feedback, and recommend classroom modifications and adaptive materials.
• Coordinate team meetings with professionals and families as appropriate.
• Assist teachers with family involvement strategies.
• Gather data on identified pupils through interviews and contacts with agencies.
• Generate written professional reports.
• Participate in CST meetings to determine eligibility and IEP development.
• Disseminate information and refer for services to families and staff.
