Job summary

Lorain County Community Action Agency is seeking an Early Childhood Services Worker to support Head Start activities and provide classroom substitute coverage in Lorain County. The role includes extended hours, meal preparation help, and participation in ongoing trainings.

Applicants should have a high school diploma (associates degree preferred) and be able to transport themselves to multiple agency classrooms.

Description

Assists in an Early Childhood Services capacity.

Position Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must be able to provide own reliable transportation to any agency classroom in Lorain County. Must meet all requirements stipulated by the Ohio Day Care Licensing Law. Ability to work with low-income and disadvantaged pre-school children and families. Good communication skills, both oral and written. A demonstrated ability to work with young children. An understanding of the Head Start Program.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to:

• Frequently walk throughout the day (Ex. hallway to restroom, gym, outside, etc.)
• Frequently required to stand and sit, reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, bend and squat to children's eye level throughout the day.
• Have the ability to be fast on their feet and maintain endurance to keep up with 3-5 year old age children.
• Have the ability to lift and carry 10- 25 pounds and in case of an emergency a 40 pound child.
• Frequently uses hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Frequent face-to-face verbal conversations and the ability to hear and listen.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
