Job summary

Santa Barbara Unified School District is seeking a TK Paraeducator to support teachers in pre-school and transitional kindergarten programs. The position is 6 hours per day and non-exempt under FLSA, working at Roosevelt and Adams School.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years college or AA degree or higher preferred.
• Six semester units of ECE/CD coursework required.
• CBEST test completion required.
• CPI certification within 6 months of employment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with instructional materials and attendance.
• Lead students in singing, dancing and supervised activities.
• Tutor individuals or small groups; monitor and score tests.
• Assist with lunch, snack areas and personal hygiene after meals.
• Operate computers and common software used in classrooms.
• Follow health and safety practices and administer minor first aid when needed.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records.
