Job summary

Santa Barbara Unified School District is seeking a Paraeducator - Bilingual to support a certificated teacher at La Cumbre Junior High School in Santa Barbara. The role involves tutoring students in small groups and reinforcing instruction as directed by the classroom teacher.

Hours are 6 per day, nine months per year and the position is non-exempt. Additional stipends are available for Spanish fluency and for holding a Bachelor's degree, with a documented oral exam.0

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school required.
• At least one year of experience working with children in an educational or similar setting.
• Ability to reinforce instruction and support certificated teachers.

Responsibilities

• Provide tutoring to individual students or small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Monitor and score tests and administer instructional drills and exercises.
• Perform routine clerical duties to support instructional activities and maintain student files.
• Operate classroom equipment and standard software; assist with materials distribution.
• Observe student behavior and enforce classroom/school rules and policies.
• Ensure student well-being and safety, including basic first aid when needed.
• Supervise groups during recess, cafeteria, field trips and other activities.
• Maintain punctual attendance and protect the confidentiality of student records.
