Job summary

Central Kentucky Head Start is hiring an Instructional Assistant in Elizabethtown, KY to support preschool children under the Head Start program. You will work with the teacher to implement instructional experiences, engage children in learning, and help maintain a safe classroom while following program standards.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, and a CDA credential (or enrollment with anticipated completion within two years).

• Reliable transportation is required.

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Assists in implementing instructional experiences under the direction of the Head Start Teacher to engage preschool children.
• Completes required annual training and professional development hours.
• Supports progress of English Language Learners in primary language and English.
• Incorporates each child’s interests into planning classroom activities.
• Maintains safe and healthy environment while upholding teacher-child ratios per Head Start standards.
• Assists Teacher in assessing children.
• Aids in timely and accurate completion and maintenance of documentation and recordkeeping.
• Promotes staff relationships that foster a climate conducive to learning.
• Other duties as assigned.
