Job summary

Central Kentucky Community Action Council, Inc. is seeking a Head Start Center Instructional Assistant to support preschool learning under the guidance of the Head Start Teacher, helping children develop social, emotional, physical, and educational skills.

You will work 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with a requirement for a High School Diploma or GED and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams. Training, safety, and program standards are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a team environment.
• Experience working with children.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Works well with individuals of all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Background check/pre-employment screenings required.

Responsibilities

• Implements instructional experiences under the direction of the Head Start Teacher for preschool children.
• Engages children in a variety of learning experiences and activities.
• Completes required annual training and professional development hours.
• Supports progress of English Language Learners in their primary language and English.
• Assists in incorporating each child’s interests into planning classroom activities.
• Maintains a safe and healthy environment while upholding teacher-child ratios in compliance with Head Start standards.
• Assists in the assessment of children.
• Assists with timely and accurate documentation and recordkeeping.
• Promotes positive staff relationships to foster a conducive learning climate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
