Job Description

Wheeler Mission Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3 non-profit, evangelical Christian organization dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished. All employees are expected to share their faith and align with our Mission, Vision, and Core Values. The Early Childhood Educator will co-teach in a therapeutic classroom environment, supporting children in infant, walker, toddler, and preschool age groups within the Compass Kids Program at the Center for Women and Children. Responsibilities include implementing trauma-informed, Christ-centered approaches, using evidence-based curricula, and ensuring effective communication with children, parents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Co-teach in a therapeutic environment within the Compass Kids Program.
• Implement trauma-informed, Christ-centered teaching strategies.
• Use evidence-based curricula and sensory tools in activities.
• Maintain clear communication with children, parents, and staff.

Program Support

• Ensure program meets children’s needs in a Christ-centered, trauma-informed manner.
• Teach early childhood basics aligned with best practices using sensory tools.
• Provide daily updates to parents and staff.
• Adhere to organizational policies and Indiana laws.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience working with young children.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Obtain or have a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification during employment.
• Experience with children impacted by trauma, poverty, or homelessness preferred.

Physical & Other Requirements

• Ability to lift 10-30 pounds safely.
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, and engage with children indoors and outdoors.
• Availability to work 40 hours/week, Monday to Friday, between 7 am and 6 pm.
• Background check, drug testing, physical, TB test required.
