Early Childhood Educator - Toddler Teacher

Join our team as an Early Childhood Educator - Toddler Teacher at Wheeler Mission.

Job Overview

This role involves co-teaching in a therapeutic classroom environment within the Compass Kids Program at the Center for Women and Children. You will support children across infant, walker, toddler, and preschool age groups, fostering a nurturing, trauma-informed, and Christ-centered environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Co-teach in a therapeutic classroom setting, implementing developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed approaches.
• Utilize evidence-based curricula and sensory tools in educational activities.
• Communicate effectively with children, parents, staff, and volunteers.
• Ensure the program meets the needs of children in a Christ-centered, strengths-focused manner.
• Provide daily updates to parents and staff about children’s activities and progress.
• Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with young children.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain or currently hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) Certification.
• Experience working with children impacted by trauma, poverty, or homelessness (preferred).

Physical and Other Requirements

• Ability to lift 10–30 pounds safely.
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, and engage with children indoors and outdoors.
• Availability to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 7 am and 6 pm.
• Background checks, drug tests, physical, and TB tests required.
