Job summary

Southwestern Community Action Council, Inc. is seeking a Head Start Teacher for our centers.

This full-time, 10-month, non-exempt position offers progression by Level I–III based on education and experience, with pay from $16.77 to $20.51 per hour. The role requires an AA in Early Childhood or related field with CDA or equivalent (Level I); higher qualifications include additional ECE coursework or a BA (Level III).

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; CDA or equivalent.
• Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate preschool curriculum.
• Ability to assess children’s strengths, needs, interests, and progress.
• Written and Verbal communication skills; relate well with people and families.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement weekly lesson plans meeting children’s needs, interests, learning styles, and goals.
• Complete developmental assessments and maintain required anecdotal records.
• Use positive guidance strategies to support children’s confidence, self-esteem, and social-emotional development.
• Conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences; share child progress with families.
• Encourage family engagement in school readiness activities and parent volunteer opportunities.
• Maintain confidentiality, ethical conduct, professionalism, and regular attendance.
• Attend required trainings, in-services, meetings, and follow agency policies.
• Complete required reports and data entry according to timelines and policies.
• Maintain credentials, confidentiality, and professionalism in accordance with laws and policies.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
