Job summary

The Sprout School in Richmond, VA is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support lead educators in delivering a Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum. You will nurture warm relationships with children and families and help create a collaborative classroom community.

Ideal candidates bring at least 1 year of early childhood experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to equitable education and reflective practice.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • At least 1 year of direct experience in an early childhood setting (Infant/Toddler - Preschool).
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and techniques of Early Childhood Education.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Teacher in implementing a Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum.
  • Foster a warm, responsive, and respectful relationship with children and families.
  • Observe and document children’s interests and developmental progress.
  • Assist with preparing materials and maintaining a welcoming, organized classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and participate in planning and reflection meetings.
  • Support a classroom culture of inclusion, curiosity, and mutual respect.

Position Overview

We are seeking a caring, collaborative, and reflective Assistant Teacher to support our lead educators in fostering a joyful, inquiry-based classroom. This is an excellent opportunity for early childhood professionals who are passionate about equitable education and inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach.

What You'll Do
