Job summary

Refugee Women's Alliance (ReWA) is seeking an Early Childhood Education Program Specialist to support a safe, developmentally appropriate early learning program. You will work closely with the Program Director to ensure program quality, family engagement, enrollment support, and smooth operations.

Responsibilities include data management, enrollment processing, attendance tracking, and coordination with teachers and families to foster supportive learning environments.

Qualifications

About the Role

ReWA is seeking an Early Childhood Education Program Specialist to support the delivery of a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive early learning program. Working closely with the Early Childhood Education Program Director, this position helps ensure program quality, regulatory compliance, family engagement, enrollment support, and effective program operations.

The Program Specialist serves as a key resource for teachers, families, volunteers, and staff while supporting classroom quality, child enrollment, attendance tracking, reporting, and program administration.

What You'll Do
Program Operations & Data Management
  • Assist staff with the technical aspects of computer-based assessments and tracking tools, including: Teaching Strategies GOLD Objectives for Development & Learning, Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ), MERIT, and Learning Stories
  • Compile program data and assist with required reports.
  • Participate in scheduling for program planning time and unanticipated staffing needs.
  • Generate invoices and support program administrative functions.
  • Manage DSHS and City Subsidy monthly invoicing processes.
  • Maintain communication with families regarding voucher timelines and benefit renewal requirements.
Enrollment & Family Support
  • Support child enrollment processes, including entering student information into databases and maintaining records.
  • Assist families with school transfers and related enrollment needs.
  • Monitor daily attendance and track reasons for absences.
  • Collaborate with teachers to support families when extended or recurring absences occur.
  • Build positive relationships with families and help create meaningful family engagement opportunities in partnership with teaching staff.
Classroom Quality & Staff Support
  • Conduct monthly classroom observations.
  • Facilitate reflective practice discussions with teachers and the Program Director.
  • Provide support to parents, staff, and volunteers in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education Director.
  • Support maintenance of classroom ratios in accordance with licensing requirements and step into classrooms when needed.
  • Promote professionalism, collaboration, and high-quality programming.
  • Attend agency and program meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.
Compliance & Record Management
  • Conduct routine reviews of children's and staff files to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Help maintain program records and documentation.
  • Support compliance with agency policies, licensing requirements, and program standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Education Program Director.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree (A.A.) in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Required Certifications & Eligibility
  • Candidates must meet federal and state health and safety requirements for childcare programs and maintain credentials including: First Aid Certification, CPR Certification, Food Handler Permit, CPS Training, and TB Test Clearance
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
  • Certification in HighScope Curriculum and experience working in a HighScope preschool classroom.
  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee families.
  • Bilingual or bicultural experience, particularly in: Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, French, Oromo, Amharic, Eritrean languages, Somali, or Tigrinya
