Job summary

Save the Children US is seeking a Program Aide in Indiana to support infants, toddlers and preschoolers across Head Start sites. You will assist classroom activities, help with daily operations, and may travel to program sites or for home visits.

The role requires at least a high school diploma, 18+ age, English proficiency, and the ability to work with diverse families while maintaining confidentiality. Base pay starts at $15/hour with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum high school diploma or GED.
• Certification as applicable by Head Start regulations.
• Within 90 days of employment, obtain basic first aid and pediatric CPR.
• Demonstrated knowledge of working with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Ability to relate well with children and communicate with staff and families.
• Follow directions and take initiative.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of family information.
• Experience working with children with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Apply clear practice and procedure in day-to-day execution of job.
• Organize self and manage time to get things done.
• Keep manager informed of important issues.
• Build effective relationships within workgroup and with children/families.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
• Assist classroom staff in all classroom activities.
• Assist the Teacher as needed (Family Nights, copying newsletters, etc.).
• Serve as temporary substitute during absences.
• Provide custodial support as needed (cleaning, stocking, security).
• Prepare food and assist in kitchen duties as required.
• Attend workshops and required staff meetings.
• Maintain knowledge of Head Start standards and local regulations.
• Promote Head Start in the community.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
