Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The Department of Education is an academic unit in the School of Education and Business within the Division of Academic Affairs at Elizabeth City State University. The department offers students the Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Elementary Education, Special Education and Birth to Kindergarten Education as well as the Master of Education in Elementary Education and the Master of School Administration.
Recruitment Range: $35,498-$40,000 The Preschool teacher is responsible for assisting with the care and education of young children, ages 3-5. The position is also responsible for assisting the lead teacher in creating a warm and nurturing relationship with each child, designing an environment that stimulates curiosity, and utilizing curriculum that is grounded in hands‑on exploration and play. Using observation and assessment tools, the teacher assistant will assist the lead teacher with documenting each child's growth and learning in relation to his or her developmental level and the North Carolina Foundations for Early Learning and Development Standards.
Minimum Training and Experience: Graduation from high school and one year of related childcare experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
