Job summary

Montclair Y is seeking an Early Learning Center-Lead Teacher to join our Montclair, NJ program. You will lead instructional activities, supervise children, maintain safety, and collaborate with the director to implement policies under the Department of Child Care Licensing standards.

This full-time hourly role requires a CDA or associate degree, CPR/First Aid, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a commitment to the YMCA's four core values.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must possess a CDA, and/or an associate degree in early childhood and 2 years’ classroom experience.
• Must maintain certifications as required by the Department of Child Care Licensing.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, EPI, Asthma and First Aid within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to lead activities and manage a group of children.
• Physical stamina to participate in activities and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Greet children and parents on arrival.
• Plan and execute instructional lessons.
• Supervise outdoor activities and fire drills.
• Read and sing with class daily.
• Maintain classroom records and progress notes.
• Mentor and supervise assistant teachers.
• Communicate with parents and directors about concerns.
