Job summary

Child Development Centers Inc. is seeking an Educational Aide II to assist the Lead Teacher in delivering quality care and education at the Gilson Child Development Center in Erie, PA.

The role runs 9:00AM - 5:30PM and focuses on implementing the Creative Curriculum and engaging children throughout the day. The position emphasizes collaboration with staff, strong communication, and adherence to CDC policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 2 years experience working with children (2,500 hours) preferred.
• Superior decision-making, problem solving, time management, and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Required travel to other centers within the county.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of compliance to the CDC’s chosen curriculum (Creative Curriculum).
• Consult tools and training to execute CDC initiatives (play plans, intentional play).
• Maintain high-quality verbal engagement with the children throughout the day.
• Partner with other staff in the classroom to ensure consistent value in interactions.
• Manage day-to-day classroom activities (curriculum, meals, bathroom breaks).
• Apply brain-based techniques to assist children with self-regulation and classroom behaviors.
• Participate in literacy initiatives to support emergent writing and reading progress.
• Attend post-observational conferences to discuss strengths and growth areas.
• Supervise children in the classroom under Lead Teacher direction and report concerns to Center Director.
• Ensure classroom and equipment are clean, maintained, and safe.
