Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. in Monroe, NC is seeking a dependable Classroom Aide to support teachers in Head Start and Early Head Start classrooms.

The role involves assisting with daily activities, supervising children, organizing the classroom, and engaging families as part of a collaborative education team. The position offers a starting rate of $14 per hour with a Monday–Friday schedule (40 hours/week), 6:45am-2:45pm or 7:30am-3:30pm.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• EDU 119 or CDA Credential preferred.
• Experience working with young children preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom activities and supervision
• Support children’s developmental and educational needs
• Help maintain classroom records and documentation
• Assist with classroom organization and cleanliness
• Supervise children during classroom and outdoor activities
• Support family engagement and communication
