Job summary

Capital Area Head Start in Harrisburg area seeks a full-time Behavior Guidance Specialist to support early childhood development and foster positive behavior in classrooms. The role involves developing behavioral interventions, delivering classroom support, and guiding families and staff on social-emotional growth.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (or 60 credits toward a bachelor’s) in early childhood education, special education, psychology or related field.
• Minimum of one year teaching or classroom experience with preschool children in an early childhood setting or related experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing challenging behaviors; knowledge of social and emotional development in preschool children.
• Familiar with adult learning principles and experience designing and delivering interactive professional development.
• Intermediate computer skills; able to use Word, Excel, Outlook and web-based systems.

• Develop and implement behavioral interventions and strategies.
• Provide classroom support based on behavioral observation outcomes.
• Educate families and colleagues about social-emotional development and positive guidance.
• Maintain high-quality behavioral services and ongoing staff training.
