Job summary

Sacred Heart Greenwich seeks a Barat Center Associate Teacher to support Lead Teachers in creating a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom aligned with Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria.

You will help develop spiritual, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth while collaborating with staff and attending school programs. The two-year mentoring program provides professional growth through leadership and observation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Enrollment in or completion of a Master's program in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field preferred.
• 12 years of experience working with preschool or elementary-aged children.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and time-management skills.
• Flexibility, initiative, and a genuine enthusiasm for working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Support Barat Center Lead Teachers with classroom preparation, organization, materials, and daily routines.
• Support a positive classroom community using Responsive Classroom strategies and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Work individually and in small groups with students to reinforce and extend classroom learning.
• Assist with student supervision and transitions throughout the day, including arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal, and attend all Special classes.
• Collaborate with Lead Teachers to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
• Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school programs, including assemblies and field trips.
• Participate in the Associate Teacher Mentoring Program, including meetings, observations, and feedback sessions.
• Assist with school events and other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
