Sacred Heart Greenwich, located in Greenwich, CT, seeks a Barat Center Associate Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year to support Lead Teachers in a developmentally appropriate learning environment for preschool through elementary students.

The program emphasizes mentoring and collaboration, with duties from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and one late day per week until 4:30 p.m. for meetings and events. This two-year role offers growth in Sacred Heart education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Enrollment in or completion of a Master's program in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field is preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience working with preschool or elementary-aged children.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organization, and time-management skills.
• Flexibility and initiative with a genuine enthusiasm for working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Support Barat Center Lead Teachers with classroom preparation, organization, materials, and daily routines.
• Support a positive classroom community using Responsive Classroom strategies and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Work individually and in small groups with students to reinforce and extend classroom learning.
• Assist with student supervision and transitions throughout the day, including arrival, lunch, recess, and dismissal, and attend all Specials classes.
• Collaborate with Lead Teachers to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings, professional development, assemblies, and field trips.
• Participate in the Associate Teacher Mentoring Program with meetings, observations, and feedback sessions.
• Assist with school events and other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

We are currently seeking a Barat Center Associate Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

Job Summary

Barat Center Associate Teachers support Lead Teachers in creating a stimulating, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate educational environment aligned with the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education and the philosophy that guides its implementation. This philosophy provides children with opportunities to develop spiritually, cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically.

Barat Center Associate Teachers report to the Head of Lower School and are expected to be in school from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with one day per week extending to 4:30 p.m. for all-school and division‑specific meetings.

This is a two‑year program with the expectation to participate in an Associate Teacher Mentoring Program with the Assistant Head of Lower School and the Lead Teacher(s).

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate strong organization, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

• Support Barat Center Lead Teachers with classroom preparation, organization, materials, and daily routines.
• Support a positive classroom community using Responsive Classroom strategies and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Work individually and in small groups with students to reinforce and extend classroom learning.
• Assist with student supervision and transitions throughout the day, including arrival, lunch, recess, dismissal, and attend all "Specials" classes (art, music, etc.).
• Collaborate with Lead Teachers to support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
• Attend and actively participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school programs, including assemblies and field trips.
• Participate in the Associate Teacher Mentoring Program, including meetings, observations, and feedback sessions.
• Assist with school events and other duties as assigned by the Head of School. Some responsibilities may extend beyond regular school hours.

Compensation

The expected base wage/salary for this position is $40,000 annually.
