Job summary

Child Development Schools in New Bern, North Carolina, seeks an Assistant Teacher to help create a classroom filled with discovery, learning, and joy. You will work alongside the Lead Teacher, supporting young learners through meaningful experiences that nurture curiosity, confidence, kindness, and growth.

You will engage with children daily, build strong relationships with families, and help document attendance and progress while maintaining a safe, warm environment that aligns with licensing

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED required; coursework in Early Childhood Education a plus.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Genuine care for children and commitment to safety and well-being.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with families.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of working with young children.

Responsibilities

• Support the Lead Teacher in delivering age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom that meets licensing and ratio requirements.
• Engage directly with children during activities, meals, transitions, and outdoor time.
• Observe children and share developmental notes with the Lead Teacher.
• Build relationships with families through warm, consistent daily communication.
• Assist with classroom documentation including attendance and daily reports.
