Job summary

Union County Community Action, Inc. in Monroe, NC seeks an Assistant Teacher / Bus Driver for its Head Start Preschool program. You will assist teachers with classroom activities, support children's social, emotional, and cognitive development, and help transport students safely to and from school.

Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking a caring, dependable professional to support our Head Start preschool classrooms while also assisting with the safe transportation of children to and from school. Starting Rate: Up to $18.50 per hour

Schedule: Monday–Friday 6:45am-2:45pm (40 hours/week)

What You’ll Do

Qualifications

• Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver I: High School Diploma/ GED & Child Development Associate (CDA). Six months to one year of related experience preferred
• Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver II: Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field preferred. Six months to one year of related experience preferred
• EDU 119 required
• CDL required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
• CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain
• Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.
• Valid driver’s license required

Physical Requirements

Must be able to actively supervise young children in classroom and outdoor environments, assist children on and off the bus, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
