Job description

Our client is seeking an Early Childhood (CDA) in Education K-12, with at least 1 year of experience working with children, to work in schools in the Washington DC area.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver curriculum founded on the center's philosophies following childcare regulations and national standards.
  • Create positive learning environments including resources based on child directed learning.
  • Develop strategies to guide positive children's behavior.
  • Ensure the learning environment is clean, hygienic and safe.
  • Help develop teaching goals for the center and its teachers.
  • Assist the Academic Teacher in meeting academic and vocational goals through planned, structured instruction directed by the teacher.
  • Provide support to improve skills in the communication, physical abilities, social-emotional domains and self-care domains.
  • Ensure medications are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Follow infection control procedures.
  • Use the individual plan to become informed about the clients' strengths, needs, preferences, interests, and accommodations as needed.
  • Communicate appropriately with stakeholders - other employees, supervisors and managers.

Required Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children
  • Ability to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to pass required background clearances
  • Child Development Associates Degree and/or CDA is required.
  • Early Childhood Teaching qualifications, preferred.
  • Experience working in a childcare setting.
  • Fantastic organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • A good understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Ability to complete and pass a State Criminal Background Check and State Child Abuse Background Check
