Job summary

WSP is seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer to join our Denver, CO team, with options for work across multiple U.S. locations. The role focuses on structural design through construction‑phase support under experienced mentorship.

You will gain exposure to gravity and lateral systems, foundations, seismic design, and multidisciplinary coordination while contributing to federal and public‑sector projects. This is an ideal entry point for engineers starting their careers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 0–1 year of relevant structural engineering experience.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to research codes and design criteria.
  • Basic familiarity with structural building codes and design standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as RISA‑3D, ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Concept, SAFE, Revit or AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with structural analysis and design of new and existing buildings under supervision.
  • Develop structural drawings, specifications, calculations, and design documentation.
  • Support site visits and construction‑phase services and document conditions.
  • Perform routine structural calculations and evaluate building loads using software.
  • Coordinate structural requirements with other disciplines including architectural and geotechnical.
  • Produce complete calculations, drawings, specifications, and BIM models.
