Job summary

WSP is seeking a POWER Testing and Energization (PTE) Early Career Field Services Technician for its upper Midwest project location. The role provides entry-level support for construction, environmental sampling, and technical field operations, under close supervision, to build core proficiencies in equipment handling, safety, data collection, and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some electrical testing experience.
• Experience in field service work, including medium/high voltage testing.
• Completion of electrical circuits analysis series or AC power theory courses.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Willingness to participate in safety and operational training sessions.
• Demonstrated willingness to learn, good communication skills, and developing problem solving abilities.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and lift up to 35 pounds (up to 100 pounds with assistance).
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%.

Responsibilities

• Observe and assist with basic inspection and testing activities, including troubleshooting in low/medium/high voltage systems.
• Assist with routine field tasks using testing instruments and support protection/testing tasks.
• Observe and learn site safety practices and use of PPE.
• Identify unsafe conditions or faulty equipment and report to supervisors.
• Maintain consistent attendance and clear communication regarding assignments.
• Work cooperatively with crew members and maintain professional behavior in the field.
• Develop understanding of safe field navigation and field procedures.
