Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Land Development team in Watertown, MA. This early-career role offers hands-on design experience, coaching, and a collaborative culture across offices and disciplines.

You'll work on site plans, grading, drainage, and utility design using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related tools, contributing to high-quality engineering reports and sustainable solutions. A base salary range is provided and benefits are part of Total Rewards.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 1–3+ years of civil engineering experience in land development, site design, or related areas.
• EIT licensure or FE exam passed preferred (or in progress).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with HydroCAD, WaterCAD, WaterGEMS; Microsoft Project; BIM 360 or similar cloud collaboration platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop site civil engineering plans and specifications for land development projects.
• Prepare site layouts, grading, drainage, utilities, erosion and sediment control using Civil 3D and other tools.
• Contribute to construction documents, specifications, and reports with focus on accuracy and quality.
• Support stormwater management, utility design, and sustainable site design solutions.
• Collaborate with other VHB offices and disciplines on integrated project teams.
• Mentor junior staff on technical standards, tools and best practices.
• Participate in professional organizations and business development as experience grows.
