Lucid Computing in Washington, DC seeks an early-career policy associate to shape US policy work around AI verification. You will bridge our technical team and policymakers, crafting accurate, accessible explanations of what can be verified today and what would require investment.

You’ll draft briefs, responses, and explainers, maintain engagement records, and coordinate with researchers to translate policy needs into verifiable results.

Qualifications

• Experience in US AI or technology policy, including fellowships or internships, is acceptable if you can point to tangible outcomes.
• Ability to translate technical work into accessible policy language.
• Strong writing that makes complex material understandable for non-experts.
• Ability to build structure and operate with limited precedent.

Responsibilities

• Track domestic frontier AI regulation (federal and state) and keep the team current.
• Draft briefings, public comments, explainers, and responses for policymakers and staff.
• Develop standard materials illustrating Lucid’s verifiable work for government inquiries.
• Prepare the team for meetings with policymakers and partners; follow up with notes and outcomes.
• Own the system for tracking engagement and outcomes with external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with research and red teams to translate policy proposals into verifiable claims.
• Assist with grants and events as needed.
