Job summary

Future of Life Institute seeks an AI Industry Associate/Lead to craft a pro-human path for AI development, focusing on controllable, verifiable AI tools. You will work with policymakers to align innovation with safety regulation, shaping credible, non-autonomous AI strategies.

The role supports policy development and coalition-building across Europe and beyond, reporting to the Head of European Policy and Research. Open to various seniorities based on experience.

Qualifications

• Experienced technology strategist, ideally in AI policy.
• Sufficient technical fluency in advanced AI concepts to engage credibly with technical experts.
• Experience engaging policymakers outside the US and China.
• Excellent written and spoken communication, able to produce policy-ready analysis.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into policy-ready asks.

Responsibilities

• Develop a rigorous argument that credible AI strategy need not rely on autonomous AI systems.
• Track industry developments including smaller models, open-source AI, and data applications.
• Engage policymakers across regions including Europe, Brazil, Canada, and the EU AI Office.
• Translate strategy into concrete, policy-ready recommendations.
