Job summary

Workplace Options is seeking an EAP Clinical Counselor to provide telephonic, video, chat and email counselling across diverse populations. You will deliver compassionate, evidence‑based support and work to help clients feel heard, safe and understood in a confidential setting.

This position offers day, evening and overnight shifts, with a focus on crisis management, treatment planning and thorough documentation. If you are a licensed mental health professional, this role awaits your expertise.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or psychology.
• Minimum 2 years direct client-contact providing counseling.
• Experience with clinical assessment tools.
• Experience with short-term modalities such as Solution-Focused, CBT, Mindfulness.
• Integrative, Systemic counselling.
• Crisis intervention training beneficial.
• Ability to work with clients presenting with crisis, substance use, mental health concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide single session telephonic and videocounselling, in-the-moment support and crisis management professionally and confidentially.
• Assess clients to determine appropriateness for short-term counselling.
• Assess and manage high-risk calls with individuals at risk.
• Refer clients to external resources or within the organization as needed.
• Develop clear and concise treatment plans for clients.
• Maintain clinical documentation in the case management system.
• Per management, perform additional relevant tasks.

Current Opportunity: EAP Clinical Counselor

Location: US
Onsite/Hybrid/Remote: Remote or hybrid depending on your proximity to our Raleigh office
Salary: $50,000 for day shifts, $58,300 for night shifts, plus competitive benefits offering
Years of experience: Minimum of 2 years of direct counseling experience
Shifts: We have a range of day, evening and overnight full-time (40 hour per week)shifts available.

What you will do:

Our EAP Counselors engage with participants over the phone, video, chat & email all while demonstrating what we call: The Power of a Good Conversation – creating a connection with the client to ensure they feel heard, supported, and cared for.

It’s difficult to describe an average day for our counselors, as each caller presents with a unique set of challenges, and it would be from your clinical conversation that would help each person navigate a way forward. Responsibilities:

• Provide single session telephonic and videocounselling, in-the-moment support and crisis telephonic management in a supportive, ethical and professional manner while maintaining client-confidentiality.
• Assess clients thoroughly to ensure appropriateness for short-term counselling.
• Assess and manage high risk calls and working closely with individuals at risk.
• Appropriately refer clients to external resources or within WPO as part of our holistic approach.
• Collaboratively develop clear and concise treatment plans for clients.
• Maintain clear clinical and task-oriented documentation in case management system.
• Any additional tasks pertinent to the position, as deemed appropriate by management.

Qualifications/Skills:

To excel in this role, you will need the following qualifications and skills:

• Social worker, Counselor or Psychologist with accompanying Master’s degree
• Minimum 2 years direct client-contact providing counseling or mental health services
• Experience providing assessments and/or using clinical assessment tools.
• Experience using short-term counselling modalities such as Solution-Focused, CBT, Mindfulness,
• Integrative, Systemic counselling.
• Training in crisis intervention and supporting high risk clients beneficial.
• Ability to work with clients presenting with substance abuse, situations of crisis, mental healthsymptoms and/or family/relationship-related concerns impacting personal or work performance.
