Job summary

Capgemini in Smithfield RI (Hybrid) is seeking a Senior Data Migration Lead to drive the end-to-end migration from Sybase to SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL. You will oversee assessment, design, and execution of data migration, ETL remediation, and cutover planning in an Agile environment.

The role demands strong SQL, warehousing knowledge, and collaboration with business and tech stakeholders to deliver a robust data platform. Onsite from day one with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• Lead current-state assessment and discovery for Sybase envs.
• Migration of Sybase to SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.
• ETL and data integration expertise (Informatica, data lineage).
• Analyze legacy apps, databases, interfaces, data flows to define scope and approach.
• Proficiency with Sybase, SQL Server, PostgreSQL; advanced SQL and performance tuning.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines using Java and enterprise ingestion frameworks.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Docker).
• Strong data warehousing concepts and data quality/reconciliation knowledge.
• Able to work with business and tech stakeholders in Agile delivery.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead current-state assessment and discovery activities for the Sybase environment.

• Analyze databases, ETL processes, applications, integrations, and data dependencies.

• Define migration strategy, target-state architecture, and implementation roadmap.

• Drive execution of migration activities, including database conversion, ETL remediation, data validation, and cutover planning.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Sybase, including database structures, stored procedures, schemas, data models, and dependency analysis.

• Proven experience leading and executing database migration initiatives, particularly migrations from Sybase to SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL.

• Strong expertise in ETL and data integration, including Informatica, source-to-target mapping, data lineage, and migration planning.

• Experience analyzing legacy applications, databases, interfaces, and data flows to define migration scope, effort, risks, and implementation approach.

• Proficiency with Sybase, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, advanced SQL, and performance optimization.

• Experience developing and maintaining data pipelines using Java and supporting enterprise data ingestion frameworks.

• Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Docker.

• Strong understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and data quality/reconciliation concepts.

• Ability to work closely with business and technology stakeholders to drive discovery, migration design, and implementation activities.

• Strong analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills with experience operating in Agile delivery environments.
