The Front-End Developer designs and builds modern web applications, reusable components, and internal authoring tools that enhance curriculum development and improve the online learning experience. This role collaborates with instructional designers, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to create intuitive, accessible, and user-friendly solutions that streamline content creation, improve internal workflows, and deliver engaging customer-facing experiences.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain reusable Vue components, internal applications, and interactive web experiences.
- Create intuitive authoring tools that enable non-technical curriculum developers to build and maintain online course content efficiently.
- Partner with curriculum leadership, instructional designers, subject matter experts, UX designers, and developers to understand business needs and translate workflows into scalable technology solutions.
- Develop customer-facing enhancements that improve learner engagement, usability, accessibility, and overall user experience.
- Translate design mockups, wireframes, and functional requirements into responsive, accessible, and polished web interfaces.
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code.
- Participate in GitHub-based development workflows, including version control, code reviews, pull requests, and collaborative development.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive development or content-authoring tasks through innovative tooling.
- Use AI-assisted development tools where appropriate to accelerate coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and repetitive development tasks while exercising sound technical judgment and quality assurance.
Required Qualifications
- Experience developing with Vue.js or demonstrated ability to work effectively within a component-based framework.
- Experience with Node.js, npm, and modern front-end development tooling.
- Knowledge of accessible front-end development, including semantic markup, keyboard interaction, focus management, and appropriate use of ARIA.
- Ability to write organized, maintainable, reusable, and scalable code.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools and the judgment to validate their output before use.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building internal business applications or productivity tools.
- Experience developing educational technology, online learning platforms, or interactive instructional content.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud tools—particularly Photoshop and Illustrator—for inspecting, preparing, and translating designer-provided assets for web use. InDesign experience is helpful but not required.
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or digital publishing platforms.
- Familiarity with modern UI/UX principles, design systems, and component libraries.
- Experience integrating APIs and third-party services into front-end applications.
Desired Characteristics
The successful candidate will:
- Focus on improving user workflows and solving practical problems, not simply implementing isolated features.
- Enjoy working directly with end users to understand challenges and develop practical solutions. Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Balance creativity with technical excellence to produce intuitive, polished user experiences.
- Be naturally curious about emerging technologies and AI-assisted development practices.
- Take ownership of scoped work from requirements through implementation, testing, and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate a commitment to accessibility, usability, and high-quality software development.
