Job summary

Eastman in Louisiana seeks an Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician to provide hands-on support resolving instrumentation and electrical problems in a chemical plant. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair devices including valves, transmitters, controllers, and DCS systems, while following safety procedures.

You will participate in preventive maintenance, plant turnarounds, and incident investigations, ensuring equipment reliability and compliance with regulatory codes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical degree or certification highly recommended.
• Experience in a chemical, petrochemical or related manufacturing environment.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Strong background in control and instrumentation, including valves, transmitters, controllers and DCS systems.
• Experience with electronic and digital process control systems and related loop equipment.
• Knowledge of level, temperature, pressure and flow measurement.
• Familiarity with electrical distribution, motors, wiring, and NEC for hazardous locations.
• Process analyzer experience a plus.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand plant operations.
• Commitment to safety and ability to serve on emergency response team.

Responsibilities

• Understand permit procedures (general, hot and entry).
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair chemical plant instrumentation and equipment including low and high voltages, valves, transmitters, controllers and DCS.
• Investigate equipment failures to determine root cause and implement solutions.
• Assist in evaluating and improving preventative maintenance programs.
• Participate in planning and executing chemical plant turnarounds.
• Take callouts to keep the plant operating at present or full rates.
• Keep abreast of new methodologies and technology for the plant.
• Enter and manage work orders and KPI data.
• Enter MOCs and related process changes.
• Support safe operations and adherence to procedures.
