Job description

At Chemours, we are looking for an Electrician to join our team in Starke, Florida. The role reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and supports mining and mineral processing operations.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure all work is performed within company, state, and federal regulations, standards, statutes, policies, and procedures.
• Identify and promote opportunities to improve mine safety performance and act as a safety leader.
• Maintain and service all machinery (mechanical and electrical), instrumentation, control, lighting and fixtures, outlets, wiring, generators, etc.
• Install, replace, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical distribution systems, including electric motors, transformers, switchgear, starters, and MCC's.
• Fabricate, install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain DCS, PLC control systems, SCADA and wireless systems, control panels, control boxes, and specialized electrical equipment and machinery.
• Complete open work orders and conduct preventive maintenance activities as required by manufacturers and OEM standards.
• Assist mechanics in maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical and process equipment.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.

Goals

• Act as a Safety Leader to ensure individual and team safety remain a top priority in planning and execution of all tasks.
• Work closely with Company Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) personnel targeting zero incidents and continuous improvement of mine site EHS performance.
• Drive continuous improvement in maintenance approach, encourage initiatives to reduce safety risk, increase productivity and efficiency, and reduce maintenance cost.

Additional Responsibilities

• Work in a self‑guided manner in the absence of supervision, demonstrating creativity, sound judgment, and initiative.
• Report all personal injuries and EHS incidents and assist with safety and environmental investigations.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all assigned areas.
• Read electrical circuit diagrams, specifications, OEM maintenance manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings to assemble panels and control boxes.
• Requisition materials and supplies from stockroom, call vendors, and recommend purchases.
• Transfer primary power from one source to another, install cables, conductors, wire trays, splice cables, build terminations, and perform hook‑up for primary power lines.
• Monitor work done by outside contractors for adherence to National Electrical Code requirements and report back to supervisor.
• Support down‑day planning to accomplish required work per agreed cost and schedule.
• Offer guidance and support to other maintenance personnel to develop in‑house technical expertise.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of: methods and techniques of troubleshooting, repairing and installing plant equipment; programmable logic controls, co‑processors, DCS, SCADA, and wireless systems.
• Ability to: troubleshoot and maintain plant equipment, machinery and related facilities; operate power hand tools and specialized electrical equipment; operate office equipment including computers and supporting software applications; adapt to changing technologies and learn functionality of new equipment and systems; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently ascends or descends ladders, stairs, elevated walkways, ramps and similar structures.
• Perform heavy manual labor when needed, such as moving and installing equipment in different weather conditions.
• Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Work near operating mechanical parts and mobile equipment, often exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibrations.
• Read and interpret various plans and designs.
• Wearing personal protective equipment such as hearing protectors and respirators as necessary.

Eligibility

• High school graduate and Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school.
• Or five (5) to ten (10) years related experience as an E&I Mechanic in an industrial environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code required and familiarity with NFPA Arc Flash safety regulations.
• Valid Journeyman Certification.
