Job summary

Smurfit Westrock Sawmill in Cottonton, AL is hiring an E&I Technician. The role requires reading electrical schematics, troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation issues, and strong safety knowledge, including lockout/tagout.

Candidate should be able to work 3rd shift, overtime, and be familiar with 480V 3-phase motor starters, hydraulics, and VFDs. HS diploma or GED required with prior industrial experience or certificate.

Qualifications

• Industrial E&I experience or equivalent certificate/diploma
• Ability to read electrical and instrumentation drawings/schematics
• Understands lockout/tagout and safety procedures
• Capability to troubleshoot electrical issues independently
• Familiar with 480V 3-phase motor starters and hydraulic systems
• Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)

E&I Technician

Smurfit Westrock Sawmill in Cottonton Al is looking to fill an open position for an E&I Technician. We are looking for someone who can meet the following requirements:

• 3-5 years industrial E&I experience or
• 2-4 years industrial E&I certificate/diploma from accredited school
• Ability to work safely / understands Lock out / Tag out
• Ability to interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics and drawings
• Ability to use electrical test equipment, multi meter, megger, amp probe
• Good understanding of PLCs and ladder logic
• Trouble shoot electrical issues independently
• Familiar with 480v 3 phase motor starters
• Ability to trouble shoot 240v, 120v, and 24v circuits
• Good understanding of hydraulic systems and the ability to troubleshoot
• Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives
• Available to work overtime and 3rd shift
• Pass written testing requirements
• High School Diploma or GED
