Job summary

Saulsbury Industries is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare and own cost estimates for bids and project proposals across industrial electrical and instrumentation sectors. You will identify risks, opportunities, and maintain a winning strategy while coordinating with divisions to finalize bid strategies.

Location options include Odessa, Dallas, Houston, or remote work. Five or more years of estimating experience in petro-chemical and heavy industrial facilities required, along with

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation estimating.
• Competitive bid experience up to $20M in petro-chemical, gas processing, refining and other heavy industrial facilities.
• Electrical and Instrumentation field experience highly preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques.
• Ability to conceptualize estimates with incomplete information.
• Understanding of construction industry practices and standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates based on scope, blueprints, specs and docs.
• Solicit quotes from suppliers, subcontractors and manufacturers.
• Distribute and maintain bid documents.
• Establish construction schedules.
• Identify weather, cranes, hoists, temporary facilities and indirect costs.
• Ensure bid forms are completed and executed correctly.
• Review labor costs and licensing requirements.
• Schedule bid review meetings to finalize bid strategies.
• Coordinate with team during bid processes on large proposals.

General Information/Job Summary

Prepare and take ownership for cost estimating of bids and project proposals, identifying risk, opportunities, and maintaining a winning strategy.

Responsibilities/Competencies

• Prepare detailed estimates in accordance with the scope of work, blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare quantity take-offs, determining manpower, equipment requirements, material items and subcontractors
• Solicit quotes from material and equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers
• Distributes and maintains control of bid documents
• Establishes construction schedules
• Identifies special requirements for weather protection, cranes, hoists, temporary facilities and services or any/all other indirect cost associated with projects
• Ensures that all bid forms are completed and properly executed
• Reviews labor costs and applicable licensing requirements,
• Schedules and conducts bid review meeting with the Division Manager, Estimating Manager, and/or business line management to finalize bid, markup and bid strategies
• Coordinate with other employees during bid process on large proposals

Requirements

• 5 or more years experience with industrial electrical and instrumentation estimating
• Competitive bid experience up to $20M in the petro-chemical, gas processing, refining and other heavy industrial facilities
• Electrical and Instrumentation field experience highly preferred
• Advanced knowledge or estimating strategies and techniques
• Ability to conceptualize estimates without complete information
• Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities
• Knowledge of estimating software programs
• Occasional travel required
• Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
