Job summary

Butler Snow LLP seeks an experienced E-Discovery attorney to join the team in handling complex litigation support. The candidate will advise on preservation, production of ESI, and develop defensible collection strategies and discovery protocols.

You will manage large-scale document review projects, work with vendors and outside counsel, and stay current with FRCP developments and AI-assisted review technologies.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
• 3 years of experience in litigation, investigations, or e-discovery.
• Strong understanding of FRCP Rules 26, 34, 37, and 45 and applicable state discovery rules.
• Familiarity with Relativity, Everlaw, DISCO, Logikcull, or similar e-discovery tools.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, project-management, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage complex, high-volume matters and communicate technical concepts to attorneys and clients.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on e-discovery obligations, including preservation and production of ESI.
• Develop defensible legal holds, collection strategies, and discovery protocols.
• Manage large-scale document review and production projects from discovery through trial.
• Analyze electronically stored information, including emails, documents, databases, chat messages, and other digital records.
• Work with litigation-support teams, vendors, forensic specialists, and outside counsel.
• Draft and negotiate ESI protocols, discovery agreements, search terms, and protective orders.
• Address discovery disputes, including challenges involving scope, relevance, proportionality, privilege, and data preservation.
• Oversee document-review teams and quality-control processes.
• Stay current with developments in FRCP, e-discovery case law, AI-assisted review, TAR, and emerging discovery technologies.
• Represent clients in discovery conferences, hearings, and related litigation matters as needed.
• Discovery Strategy: Develop discovery plans, search terms, collection protocols, and review workflows.
• Technology Management: Work with litigation-support teams and e-discovery vendors using platforms such as Relativity, Everlaw, DISCO, or similar systems.
• Discovery Disputes: Handle disputes concerning preservation, search methodology, scope, proportionality, privilege, and adequacy of productions.
• Vendor Management: Coordinate with forensic specialists, outside vendors, contract attorneys, and litigation-support professionals.
• Project Management: Track discovery deadlines, budgets, review progress, production schedules, and case milestones.
