Job summary

Goodwill of Central and Coastal Virginia is seeking a Shipping Associate to handle pick, pack and ship duties for the E-Commerce department in Richmond, VA. You will use FedEx and ShopGoodWill software to ship, stage packages for pickup, and help with online listings on a daily basis.

No prior experience is required, but a high school diploma or GED is mandatory. A background check will be completed and familiarity with e-commerce listing is a plus.

• Stages packages daily for FedEx pickup, and assists drivers in pickup.
• Opens claims with FedEx for lost or damaged shipments.
• Determines next step in process of unsold items daily.
• May assist with photographing and listing, as directed by the E-Commerce Project Manager.

Position Summary

Performs all duties involved in the shipping process for the E-Commerce department, including but not limited to: the pick, pack and ship functions. Initiates FedEx claims for lost or damaged goods. Pulls unsold auction items and moves them to the next designated area (Auction, Outlet, E-Recycle), as appropriate. Provides assistance to the E-Commerce Listing Specialists, as time allows.

Essential Duties

• 2. Packs items with appropriate shipping materials in an appropriately sized box for a secure shipment.
• 3. Uses FedEx and ShopGoodWill shipment software to ship.
• 4. Meets daily shipment goals.
• 5. Stages packages daily for FedEx pickup, and assists drivers in pickup.
• 6. Opens claims with FedEx for lost or damaged shipments.
• 7. Determines next step in process of unsold items (relist, combine and list, Outlet, Auction, E-Recycle), and takes action daily.
• 8. May assist with photographing and listing, as directed by the E-Commerce Project Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The associate in this position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education/Experience/Certificates/Security Clearance

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No previous experience required.
• No professional certifications are required for this position.
• The associate is not required to drive as part of their job duties.
• The associate in this position will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check.
• E-commerce research and listing experience, or equivalent knowledge from personal on-line sales experience, preferred.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of Goodwill’s product sales lines (i.e. music, jewelry, art, electronics, cameras, etc.), preferred.
• Knowledge of digital camera use and ability to take acceptable digital photos for online listings, preferred.
