Job summary

Waco ISD at Cesar Chavez Middle seeks a Teacher for Special Education to provide targeted learning activities and support students’ intellectual, emotional, and social growth.

You will develop lessons, monitor progress, collaborate with special and general education staff, and communicate with families while adhering to district policies and TEA guidelines.

This exempt/contracted role reports to the Principal and uses the 187 pay grade in the district compensation structure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject/level.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation.
• Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
• Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines and board/policy rules.
• Plan and use instructional strategies and materials reflecting students' learning needs.
• Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan activities.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula for IEPs.
• Establish instructional goals with staff and plan objectives accordingly.
• Supervise teacher aides and volunteers.
• Use technology to strengthen teaching/learning processes.
• Maintain open communication with parents and staff.
• Promote a positive classroom environment and manage student behavior.
