Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a part-time Group Exercise Instructor (Zumba) at North Suburban YMCA to lead engaging, inclusive classes and foster community. Certification in group exercise (NCCA) and current CPR/First Aid are required; experience in wellness programming is preferred.

The role emphasizes safety, participant engagement, and collaboration with health and wellness staff to offer varied group formats and healthy lifestyle guidance.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in Group Exercise setting.
• NCCA accredited certification. Ex. ACE, AFFA, NASM, NSCA, ISSA etc.
• If teaching a specific group exercise format, current certification required.
• Experience in health and wellness programming and group instruction.
• Understanding of internal and external marketing/special events.

Responsibilities

• Leads energizing, safe, and educational group classes as directed by the supervisor.
• Answers questions from participants to support goals related to health and wellness.
• Maintains working knowledge of wellness trends through YUSA courses and external training.
• Builds authentic relationships with members and helps connect them with the YMCA.
• Observes and adjusts classes to accommodate participants’ abilities and health.
• Celebrates achievements related to program or personal goals.
• Keeps accurate class attendance records in MotionVibe.
• Follows YMCA policies and responds to emergencies.
• Resolves member issues professionally and in line with YMCA values.
