Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley in Phoenix is seeking a Youth Development Specialist- Social Recreation to ensure the safety and supervision of Club members while delivering quality programs. Under the direction of the Program Director, you will develop and facilitate social recreation activities that align with the organization’s mission and values.

If 21 or older, responsibilities may include transporting members using club vehicles.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Passion for working with youth.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to Club’s changing needs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and cooperative working skills.
• Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite and be comfortable adapting to new technology.
• If 21 or older, maintains a valid driver’s license and meets eligibility requirements to drive Club vehicles.
• Safety oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Develops, organizes, and facilitates programs and activities utilizing a formal curriculum.
• Directly runs programming and high-yield activities in assigned area.
• Facilitate diverse social and recreational programs that foster teamwork, communication, inclusivity and positive social skills.
• Plan and coordinate special events and tournaments to showcase youth’s achievements.
• Administers outcome measurement tools.
• Delivers programs with an enthusiastic, high-energy, positive attitude.
• Ensures program areas remain safe, clean, and organized.
• Adheres to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley’s policies and procedures.
• Demonstrates sound judgement and decision-making.
• Maintains Club equipment and property to ensure they stay in good working order.
• Uses positive guidance and discipline techniques to redirect member behavior issues.
• Utilizes active supervision techniques when working with Club members.
