WXMI, The E.W. Scripps Fox affiliate in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who will also serve as a Weather Reporter/Presenter several days a week and a geographic beat Reporter other days.

The ideal candidate has a passion for weather science, strong reporting skills, and the ability to shoot, edit, and deliver news across on-air and digital platforms in a fast-paced market.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred.
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive assignment or evaluate news leads to develop story ideas.
• Gather and verify factual information via interviews, observation, and research.
• Organize material, determine slant or emphasis, and write story according to prescribed editorial style and format standards.
• Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
• Edit videos for all multimedia platforms.
• Appear on television program when conducting taped interview or narration.
• Give live reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit.
