Job summary

WXMI, The E.W. Scripps Fox affiliate in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is seeking a Multimedia Journalist who will also serve as a Weather Reporter/Presenter several days a week and a geographic beat Reporter on other days.

The role requires passion for the science of weather and strong storytelling across platforms. The candidate should have 3+ years of experience, solid AP style writing, videography, and the ability to shoot/edit, with a valid driver's license and newsroom skills.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred.
• Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive assignment or evaluate news leads and tips to develop story ideas.
• Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research.
• Organize material, determine slant, and write story per editorial standards.
• Shoot video and still photos to illustrate stories.
• Edit videos for all multimedia platforms or assist in editing.
• Appear on television program for taped interviews or narration.
• Give live reports from site of event or mobile broadcast unit.
