Job summary

The YMCA of the East Bay in Oakland, CA seeks a Water Fitness Instructor to lead engaging water workouts for members and groups, promoting safety and enjoyment in a diverse environment.

You will design and run programs, monitor safety, greet members, and coordinate with staff, while completing required certifications within 60 days of hire; this role requires strong communication and reliability.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
• Ability to design and lead group and individual water fitness sessions.
• Must complete YMCA program-specific certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Friendly, inclusive communication with a diverse membership.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging water fitness instruction to members in group workouts or individual settings.
• Assist in water fitness program design and safety training.
• Engage by greeting members and providing high-quality member service.
• Maintain high standards of communication with supervisor, members, staff and volunteers.
• Ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of all facility and equipment in the pool area.
• Responsible for recording information as needed.
• Respond to emergencies as needed.
• Maintain Standards of Conduct as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Attend all department staff meetings and trainings specified by supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
