Job summary

YMCA of the East Bay in Berkeley seeks a Water Fitness Instructor to lead safe, engaging aqua workouts for groups and individuals. You will deliver high‑quality instruction, promote health and wellness, and support members' fitness goals in a welcoming environment.

This role requires CPR/AED and First Aid certification, ability to design programs, and strong communication with staff and members. YMCA certifications must be completed within 60 days of hire, and you must be 18+.

Qualifications

• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Ability to teach and design water fitness programs.
• Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to relate to diverse people from all backgrounds.
• At least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging water fitness instruction to members in group or individual settings.
• Assist in water fitness program design and safety training.
• Greet members and provide high-quality member service.
• Maintain high standards of communication with supervisor, members, staff and volunteers.
• Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of pool area.
• Record information as needed.
• Respond to emergencies as needed.
• Maintain Standards of Conduct as per Employee Handbook.
• Attend department meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
